Being Prepared

Being prepared for what? Have you heard of the term ‘prepper’? Never had I heard of that until these last 3 years. Again, what am I talking about?

Over the years and especially these last 3 I have witnessed shocking life changes that have brought a significant insight into the possibility of a very different life, from what I have known. This has inspired me to become aware that essentials could be limited or even unavailable. I saw empty shelves, necessities unavailable, difficulty in shipping, and not being allowed in essential services and access to groceries. I am not afraid of this change, infact I have seen this shift coming for a number of years. I know that the life I lived; everything at my fingertips and wasting precious resources on frivolous wants is NOT SUSTAINABLE. I am welcoming this change into being connected to the Earth and my community as ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!

This brings me to being prepared…

I am putting together a life that will have certain necessities available for an extended time that I may not have access to. What is this? Here’s my on-going list that I feel is important to have ready for 3 to 6 months of no access. And I am open to more kind and considerate suggestions for this list.

  1. Seeds for growing and in winter months being able to sprout. Glass jars with mesh lids for draining.
  2. Quinoa, Millet, Amaranth and buckwheat, mung beans and other dried legumes.
  3. My own Apothecary. MY own personal herbal medicines.
  4. Superfoods and High Energy options.
  5. A type of water system that will filter if I need to access outside my in home water.
  6. An option to access a fire 🔥 to cook and heat water.
  7. A solar generator to charge equipment and run some small appliances.
  8. Making waxless candles.
  9. Having a good supply of canola oil for fuel for waxless candles.
  10. Making sure I have good supply of blankets.
  11. Faraday fabric for shielding emf’s, etc.
  12. Stuff for trade with others.
  13. Art supplies to keep creativity levels high.
  14. Lighters and matches.
  15. Food grade rain catchments.
  16. A garden; food and medicinal.
  17. Necessary bathroom supplies for keeping clean. Castile Soap being one.
  18. Warm and rain proof clothing.
  19. Hand crank radio, solar with an option to charge up equipment.
  20. Solar Panel for charging.
  21. Making sure I live in a good community with similar values, close to my family.
  22. Extra Water 💧 stored for an emergency time frame.
  23. Indoor growing food system.
  24. An in home heating system that won’t require connection to the grid.

Here is my list which I continue to add to. If I never have to utilize this GREAT, but if there is a day that comes that I will need this NOW, I will be as prepared as I can be with options to barter and trade.

I offer this incase you have been sitting on the fence wondering or pondering this. Maybe you will feel to prepare in your own way. And my way to ‘be prepared’ may not be yours and that is just perfect. Find your way to feel prepared if infact that is in alignment for you.

Peace, love, blessings 🙌 🙏
